I proposed to attach a discription of my idea and sign it including NDA but they said no. I dont feel much protected that way ,what do you think? - If I file a provisinal Patent and someone filed an actual patent after me, do I still have the first right on it? thank you - Veg E

  • Hey Dave this type of info and help is hard to find i really appreciate what your doing! I also have a question that i hope you could answer! Question: if my invention involves an app can i be vague and say what the app will do or would i have to also include the code for the app when filing a provisional patent ? Also keep in mind the app is just part of the invention but an essential part. - Jerome Young
  • Dave are you still providing the info and service? - eddiez152
  • DAVE. unfortunately probably the very Co in China that's producing your idea is for each one of yours (if it's a breakaway seller) like The Flex Hose, remember a few years ago...I saw the exact same thing (different name size and colour) but 50% less If ever I get anything to the manufacturing stage it will be made in Detroit Americans have so much more scruples than the Chinese.Let me know if you would like to see some of my ideas normanlor@outlook.com - norm lor

  • It does grant rights when you file the non provisional claiming preference to it. This is one of the most powerful documents available to corporations. It is what Apple, IBM, Boeing, and nearly EVERY Drug company uses on HOT inventions to ensure they can have an early filing date... • thanks i needed this..... - Ghiche Bradley
  • No I did not; I've just recently started to look into patents because of certain issues I might be having in the near future. Thank very much for your reply and for posting this video, it is very helpful and insightful. - cheers tome
  • There is no such thing as "provisional patent". It's called a "provisional patent application", because provisional patent application process itself doesn't grant any rights to the inventor, the invention isn't even disclosed or examined. - Modestane
  • Dave Korpi, Where can I find your website? - sirusjthoj
  • Actually, that is not true. Tricksters do what you say and NOT seal the envelope (simply because the US Post Office could care less if the envelope is sealed) and then put fake documents in there. On March 16, 2013 the US will be a First to File Country.. Which means the first person to file any patent application will be the owner of the inventive claims, should they be valid. - Dave Korpi
  • Actually, that is not correct. The USA is a First to File Country. Therefore, the CHEAPEST way to claim your IP is to file a Provisional Application for Patent - Dave Korpi
  • The title... It is for Provisional In the video I don't talk about a "real" or non-provisional patent application. The difficult with drafting non-provisional patents is writing the claims. The reason I suggest provisional patents is they are an EXTRAORDINARY defensive means to deal with future office actions. It has EVERYTHING you need to protect your inventive idea as long as you file a follow up non-provisional. Pop me an email or PM me and I can explain some things to consider... - Dave Korpi
  • dave,I need your help will you call 509-262-4292 or mxhunter35@yahoo.com thanks for your time rob johnston. - Rob Johnston
  • @sirusjthoj You click the link that is not allowed to write in comments.. Search Provisional Patent Video Course and look for ProvisionalPatentVideoDOTcom Thanks for asking. It is also under the video.... - Dave Korpi
  • No.. Do not even try that.. Use the PPA... Call me with questions.. or PM me... You are going in the wrong direction. The USA is a First To File Country. So, if you show you INVENTED it LAST year and I filed a Provisional today then the invention is mine. - Dave Korpi
  • @davekorpi Hi, your title says "How to Patent Your Idea for less than $150" is this video only to show how to get a provisional patent within that price range or a full patent? I ask because as you said in your video you will show how to get a "real patent" and as David Pressman in his book a PPA is not a real patent but a place holder for up to a year after the filing of the PPA. I would be interested in your product if you could show how to file for a real patent within that price range.. Ty. - Lootaable
  • hey, thats pretty slick! and yeah,it sure SHOULD hold up in a courtroom!!!lol! thats great! not many folks know how to use the systems in place in such ways to their legal advantage. have YOU done this? it sure seems right to me. its actually amusingly simple. - irishbreakfast
  • If you want to protect your invention prior to getting a patent.Simply put it in an envelope,"HAVE IT NOTORIZED" over the seal on the envelope. Then send it to yourself in the mail.Never open it.Holds up in court. - stillbreathing37
  • also, should it or would it matter if it was an old-style wax seal, perhaps with family crest,or would the machines they use for sorting tear it up? is there anything else that could officiate it,other than the postmark and seal.what if the seal pops open at some point, before it finds its way to a federal courtroom? i think i know the direction your pointing in. the WHOLE IDEA,and how to make it and all its specs?? to what end? - irishbreakfast
  • A provisional patent is only $125 and they will accept anything you submit. Too bad a provisional patent isnt going to make you any money AT ALL from your idea. - edmac969
  • can you contact me to inform me and help me, i have a clothing line im starting and i want to classify some things with in the provisional patent either message me or can you email me xbakeiix@gmail.com - Blake Edwards SR
  • Did you know that the US Provisional Application for Patent is recognized by many other countries? As such the US PPA is, in a way, a beginning of an international patent if you will. Every country has their own patent process. Therefore, there is no one SINGLE "International Patent".. Kind of a bummer! - Dave Korpi
