Discussion and opinion

  • And if you was to have a car accident in the sky, 100% possibilty of death. - Ruqaiyah Akhtar
  • Personal air vehicles, sure, because we don't burn enough fossil fuel already -.- - Ferenc Flórián Keszthelyi
  • We haven't even worked out how to make our road cars completely safe -_- Can you imagine someone falling asleep behind the joystick of a personal air vehicle? Or someone drink-flying? - Yeah you can talk about making all this automatic, but where will all the money come from? I'm afraid we are far from this stage. The only viable option I can see to having localised air travel implemented in the future is, smaller more affordable aerial public transport. But that is only if we manage to invent the relevant eco friendly high powered engine. - But its all about money today and tomorrow. If no one will make money on it, it wont happen. - David Carmichael
  • this video is quite stupid. you know whats most ridiculus about flying cars? efficiency. its like saying "hey, i want a car that is also a boat, so basically it can drive and swim". yeah, nice, just buy one. and what do we see? people mostly buy boats and cars. that out of the way, what she really wants is airplanes for everyone, she just mixes it with cars to make herself sound even more ridiculous. then, there are so many other things coming in the future that flying cars (even if they were not fundamentally just as stupid as boat car hybrids or submarine car hybrids) really look boring. coming soon: the first true AI, as in, artificial consciousness. and nuclear fusion cutting down energy prices globally. to sum up, this is a crap video, and i am giving it thumbs down. - kurtilein3
  • We're terry let drivers? Speak for yourself. Sure, some people on the road drive like crap and in my opinion they shouldn't have a licence to start with but we are all terrible drivers? Don't be stupid. Also, many people love to drive. They love to be in control. I sure as he'll wouldn't like to be in a self drive car. I don't even really care for driving an automatic transmission car. - Retro Core
  • The biggest hurdle to a flying car isn't the flying it's not the car nor is it the plane, it's the weather. As an rc aviation and real aviation buff I can honestly tell you this lady has a very limited idea of what she's talking about. The control system on a drone is sooo far from the fly by wire system in a full scale aircraft, The fly by wire in your cars throttle body is closer to an Airbus's system than a remotely controlled drone. - Amesie's Corner
  • HEad squeeze, is it normal if one of my ears is smaller than the first 2 What if the 3 are not in the same plane? - Somerandomdude4.2526
  • Good Idea but 1 flaw. We as humans crash cars in 2 dimensions, adding a third will just increase the number of crashes per day. Unless it is all automated. - 16 Bit Video Game Review
  • This is Stupid ... people arent smart enough to drive their car in a proper way but yeah let them fly wuhu - timinator855
  • k lol - Ted Chirvasiu
  • Flying Cars For Everyone? Bullcrap! You sit there and spew a bunch of fantasy that has been talked about for the last 80 years, and has NEVER happened. And now that every "progressive loony" has been seduced into the cult of global warming, does anyone REALLY believe that everyone's brand new flying car will levitate on "zero carbon footprint technology". If this technology ever does make it into widespread production, you can all rest assured that the only people driving flying cars will be the wealthy and the privileged. And I'll bet Al Gore's name will be right at the top of the delivery list. The rest of you slobs who can't afford a burger and fries at a fast food joint; there's a brand new shiny moped in your future. - watcherjohnny
  • Shouldn't we start with simpler things like those hoverbikes from Looper or Luke's Landspeeder in Star Wars? I would mention the Speeder Bikes from Return of the Jedi but those would be more dangerous than flying cars. Mass transit and putting all control in a computer would take all the fun out of it and be more like a flying bus. We're probably 100-200 years from real flying cars and by that time people will be using them for low Earth orbit travel worldwide and possibly trips to the Hilton Satellite Hotel & Casino. - Derekswearsalot Pratticurse
  • Wouldn't this just increase fuel usage for a meager decrease in traffic accidents? They would need fuel for staying in the air, where they have to cope with gravitational forces pulling every metric gram down. If they were really light weight it would still cost more fuel to keep people in the air. - wingbull2009
  • Sounds great for the one percent that are going to be able to afford them. - Stephen Morrish
  • Its a great idea but what would happen to all the roads built? Would it be like the death of steam locomotives? Who knows - brettellis22
  • Sorry but this idea will never happen. The energy costs to fly are a lot higher than for driving. Energy is getting more and more expensive because of increased demand and dwindling supply and is the reason why flight is already only used for mass transport and by incredibly rich people. - 6thmonkey
  • This video annoyed me... - Nocturnal Link
  • So, how much noise would those flying cars with "existing technologies" produce? I'm really, really not looking forward to a future where I can only leave my house with earplugs because of millions of "flying cars" in the sky. - Phroshy
  • It won't happen. We have astronomical amounts of deaths from earth bound vehicles every year. I don't think flying personal vehicles would be wise. - eklera
  • bulllshit, I anint trusting a machine - Anton Markovskis
  • Dear mrs. Woman, are you actually sure this is *your* world changing idea? Or did you simply steal it from gazillions of sci-fi books, comics, movies, etc? If so, my world changing idea is faster-than-light travel by using warp drives. And I came up with that all on ny own too. - joeytje50
  • I'm sorry but the last point in this other wise rather interesting and innovating discussion really confused me. People in poor parts of Africa and Asia don't have cars! They can't afford them and due to this lack the road network is poor. Now do you expect me to believe that these poor farmers and people who still live in shacks and barely survive yearly are suppose to be able to afford one of these? The rather large and frightening percentage of people living in the 21st in extreme poverty is fighting and you would expect them to own a machine like this? They don't have cars no mind personal drones. Either way it leads to extreme global reform, reduction of burning fossil fuels and space used for road systems - Geoff O Rourke
  • BS, do you have any idea of the flight traffics controls that need to be implemented notwithstanding, terrorism would common place. Mechanical failures would be fatal in the air and on the ground. Not feasible. - Rembrant Van Ryn
  • The beginning of Skynet. - freshdrew
  • If your car breaks down you roll to the side of the road ,If your drone/car has a fault you die in a smoking hole in the ground! Modern high tech cars break down just as often ,if not more so than old cars. - pwbpeter
  • But will this technology be more earth friendly? - Dana .Misko
  • Yeaaa, she may make good points but this idea is full of holes. And she doesn't even address some the biggest issues with this idea - Christopher Griffin
  • My biggest problem with this is the word PERSONAL. A personal vehicle that you don't have to drive yourself is called having a chauffeur regardless if it is a robot. 99% of the population does not deserve chauffeurs. We have had vehicles that we don't have to drive available to us for over 100 years we just are too selfish and lazy to use them. They are called public transit. So instead of filling the skies with pollution from everyone riding in drone jet cars we could just take the bus or the subway which are more efficient. - jnzkngs
  • We have flying cars already. They're called "helicopters" (or sometimes "autogyros"). They're just not practical because air travel consumes a lot more fuel than land travel. - mustang6172
  • The day when all the flying cars fell from the sky #futureterroristattack - David Molenberg
  • now to just wait until everyone gets them and the roads will be CLEAR - Hayley CP
  • Imagine if something went wrong with the car while your flying like if it were to be even a small problem with the computer itself, even that could mean some pretty bad consequences to come. I mean look at some plane accidents that have happened due to one fault with the computer of the aircraft, there have been many! I think that the driver/pilot should have a bit more control because it would be quite a bit safer. - Tim Slee
  • Meet George Jetsons! His boy Elroy! Daughter Judy! Jane his wife! - IncognitoZ90
  • Gief much! - Nicklas L.
  • I subbed to this channel to see James May. - iwanttoclosethis
  • Why do we need flying cars? Try the airplane or the bus. Giving men to much freedom can be harmfull for otger men's freedom. - Adama BE
  • We don't have enough materials to make at least 100 flying cars, that would function and would have enough power, in the first place, in fact in 100 years we will run out of the resource to make touch screens. - dragon spirit 2011
  • technology fails. So in an unmanned vehicle with a bug in the system could kill you or get hacked. - Nathan San Gabriel
  • if they can make this system as safe as regular air travel, you'd be ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE safer in this than in an actual car - Ryukachoo
  • Is that a man? - ThePotatoPolice
  • Really bad idea for everyone to be able to fly themselves around, you'd never be able to manage it. Develop hovering cars instead, with the distance between car and ground limited - Gibbo263
  • How would the insurance industry deal with autonomous vehicles in terms of determining who's at fault in an accident? Would the manufacturers be liable? That goes for ground or sky cars. - lednerg
  • I don't care if robots drive better, I will always want to drive just because driving is fun. - Armathyx
  • She never said anyone will be driving anything though, why is there so much resistance to an idea that, you have to admit would be cool if we could make it work. - TekaiGuy
  • I'll have a mute, hot fembot, please .. - Don John
  • I think an airbus infrastructure (that seen in Star Wars or The Jetsons) is highly impractical. You've still got your brains stuck in Yesterday's Tomorrow. Think simple, efficient, affordable. A better system would be a personal automatic electronic rail system, one with smart sensor technology. This system has freight & passenger potential. No traffic, no driving, no roadkill (saves millions in cleanup & repair), very little accidents, repair is simple, network is concrete (job security). This system works well with places that already have a paved network (sorry third world) because you can build this compact rail system along side highways & roads as automobiles get phased out (or even over the top of roads). If a rail car does shut down it will be moved into a repair lane and you can just get out and wait for a repair vehicle to reach you via paved road or rail. With all of this lack of car exhaust, and people waiting and seeing nature, maybe the side of the road would become a sight for sore eyes (instead of a dump). We can test this idea by first improving our current rail road system, to see how it goes. As for third world countries, I don't have a solution, but I'm sure someone else can figure it out--drones might very well be the answer. --they could always save up and build rail roads. The above system being suggested due to current average distance of commute & shipping in the developed world. If the developed world can shrink its infrastructure with a local mentality, bikes & bike lanes along with automated bike freight bots might one day be the future. - ThirdWaveCrave
  • Flying cars powered by Windows 9? That should yield desired results with no potentially fatal outcomes at all :D - imyouandurme
