F**ing Great idea ... I LOVE THAT :D :D :D :D I will try to make one :D - Hackanhacker
look i dont have the money for the parsbut if you have 4 lego rc motors
built on a light and sturdy studless frame with the rechargable batterry
boxes in the middle...like a quad copter - Aaron Buss
Yeaah, now I want to see the first lego flyer! No cables to the ground ;) - egolegoque
No, there is just not enough power at 9V. But arround 12 is enough for a
motor to barely lift itself just above ground. - Zero Bricks Left Jerry (ZBLJ)
You know how ropes would look like on vide... Full comment page of fake - Zero Bricks Left Jerry (ZBLJ)
Which motors do you use? - Alex Bravo
You can also use just one RC motor, but you need a tail rotor. It has power
to spare to power the tail by 18V. Too bad my RC motors are already used up
a bit withh all the years of powering my creations. - Zero Bricks Left Jerry (ZBLJ)
LiPos (11.1V) P.S: Try to put it on a scale, fly it, and then film the
weight difference - klima94
Are you planning on buying more for this experiment? I am aware of how
expensive they are nowadays.... - Shorjok
I hope to see it floating totally in next video ;). - Yiharua
RC buggy - cselloman
You might want to try a quad-rotor design. You'd be able to get a pretty
light frame and add as many rotors as you need. You might also have to
increase the number of blades per motor. - Arkadion of Toast
Wow great job!! Put on a flybar on the top rotor and it should have much
more stability - Alex Yuan
It wouldn't work they said. - Legoguylol4ever
You should use some ropes, which hold it on position without your hands. - malý Měch
Kind of impressive you got it flying (almost anyway) with a so smal rotor.
The power neded to fly a heli is invers relativ to the area of the rotor.
I.e. dubbeling the diameter cuts the power neded down to 1/4. I would stick
some cardboard... use a pice of a Lego box, and its still lego :P - matsv201
How about use 8675 motor? It is much faster than rc motor - kwon8429
cool! Hope you will find the way of flying with lego... :) Just like the
Wright brothers. Thumbs Up! - cselloman
Nice, bro :) I loce it, will the motors get hot? - jeff55682
Don't do it they said. - ThePurpleNarwhal
Have you tried wind-up motors? They work really well if your "helicoper" is
light. - InfraBlue
Thanks for the info! - Simon Burfield
For that i would need lots of motors and a very light power source - Zero Bricks Left Jerry (ZBLJ)
Yes, their thermal fuse goes on. - Zero Bricks Left Jerry (ZBLJ)
So you did keep trying:) hmm.. You might add other three propellers so that
it might be able to lift a lego Lipo battery, the.n tou could find a way to
sincronize the four propellers and you'd have an helicipter similar to the
"parrot" ( the one you controll with your ipod). Too bad i have only one rc
buggy motor otherwise I would've already tried this. Happy building ;) - SALVO OVLAS
That ghouls make it more stable BUT IT'S AMAZING SO FAR - Legodudeben96
wire to lithium ion batteries they are lighter, and last longer, and wont
over heat to easily - Kristopher B
I been looking at doing this myself, can you not get it to do it at 9v but
higher geared? - Simon Burfield
Cool! whoa~ - kwon8429
Yes, you're right. But I thought ropes from bottom of "helicopter" to the
table (like a kite). About 3 or 4 ropes to make it stable. What do you
think ? It would be very effective on video. - malý Měch
It's not gonna fly they said. - ThePurpleNarwhal
Here's a tip for it to be more stable, add in a tail fin like a helecopter
and put in a small sideways propeller and power it by using the motors you
already have and connect them with gears - Legodudeben96
Get longer blades (or more efficient blades), or more efficient motor.
Double-horse mall-helicopters can fly around with brushed motors for 4-5
minutes at a time, at only approx 7-8 volts I believe - Mike Dawson
I always dreamed of doing this. Well done! - gdoset
