Discussion and opinion

  • Thank you KC - vedder758
  • great game! I like the French Defense, but it takes a long time to castle kingside. It can be dangerous if you dont know what your doing. - Sharkbite82
  • excellent game and overview, I will have to look into the French some more! - T.J. Flanigan
  • could you make a tutorial video on how to use fritz 11 and chessbase? i just got both of them and don't know what to do with them. - mrellisjr
  • Ha! "White, with two queens, resigned!" Quite a game. - ImposingSumo
  • The french is such a tough defense. I usually just do the exchange variation. But I should look into the Nimzowitsch variation. And the french some more. I have never seen such a high level game when the player with 2 queens resigns. - theoriginalanomaly
  • excellent in depth analysis, i never play the french defense but at last ill know what to do in case i decide to one day - buffguy86
  • A really aesthetic game. I've recently been playing a lot of blitz on the ICC and I find that playing blitz is very useful when it comes to developing your opening repertoire, because you're able to experiment a lot more with openings and your opponents will do the same. I bring this up, because I've started playing the French and got some good results with it. I like the fact that 1...e6 looks unassuming, but can lead to surprisingly dynamic positions, often with both sides foregoing castling! - xXxWilliExXx
  • Good video. what do you think of rybka? i use chessmaster to analyze most of my games. I think it blunders quite alot for example i played a game against Josh 1600. And the computor blundered quite a lot, maybe you could have a look at my game and see what you think. This game was a centre counter, I have been pushing my pawn to e5 recently and gaining good ground. I wonder do you use chessmaster or do you know how to highlight squares or wheteher you can. Well let me know. Thanks crusher - Peter Ratcliffe
  • Computers are not able to make a risky moves. Moves that are necessary to provide for winning chances. (Hoping for your oppenent to make a mistake). Sometimes the Position is so complex even a computer cannot calculate all the variations. - Kristofer Dagbjartsson
  • All your videos are great, kingscrusher, very instructive. What is that song at the beginning called by the way? - Parralyzed
  • Im not 100% sure this is true, for eg. 4 a computor to drop its rating from 2600 to 1600 it must make some adjustments to its thinking lines. If you watch my video BEATING CHESS COMPUTORS i play chessmaster 10th Josh Waitskin age 8, The comp plays some terrible moves. specially the knight sac + king side pawn play near the end. - Peter Ratcliffe
  • An excellent video. It kind of kicks me in the teeth as an advanced french variation fanatic (with the white pieces), but still excellent. Thank you. - PAIEETRR NIKKOVITT
  • I have just gotten back into chess and very much enjoy playing the French Defense Advance, as black. You do a really nice job of explaining the subtleties of that position. I enjoyed it very much. - Ecocandle
  • exactly what i was going to say, i normally play the sicillian against e4 - hayeder
  • @turtlebuster82 RELAX! In the french, often a black king in the centre or Kd7 "holds" the defence together. As white, i've lost umpteenth games against my computer as i realise my army's attacking a wing that has NO enemy king!. What makes it worse is that after a move like . .Kd7 it can later suddenly play . .Kd6! and then . .Kd5! etc winning the ending. I've learnt thru sheer pain the truth in the theoretical rule that "An active king in the endgame is a little stronger than a knight!!" - PAIEETRR NIKKOVITT
  • It poses a good question what makes a 2600 player better than a 1600 player. Fewer mistakes/ blunders (short range and long range) can a computor really make a successful long range blunder on purpose? Any thoughts please let me know??? - Peter Ratcliffe
