  • You can file as many PPA's as you want ONLY if you DO NOT make it public. If it is not public then just file another provisional until you have the money to file a non-provisional claiming preference to the earlier provisional. It is important that it is kept out of the public domain or use the free NDA I have in the link above in the video. Or, write your own. Google Provisional Patent Video and get the free NDA at the bottom there... - Dave Korpi

  • How can you claim preference to an earlier provisional? This is quoted from the USPTO website and seems not to allow for that: "The 12-month pendency period cannot be extended. Therefore, an applicant who files a provisional application must file a corresponding non-provisional application for patent (non-provisional application) during the 12-month pendency period of the provisional application in order to benefit from the earlier filing of the provisional application." Thanks! - Jon B. Lund

And I'm driving my friends crazy by not telling them my ideas, because my brother-in-law patented an idea back in '95 and he told me the first thing to do is NOT mention your ideas to anyone til you have it locked in somehow. For obvious reasons.lol I'm totally new at this, so I hope this is user-friendly. ;) Thanx again! - Raixor2nd

  • The USPTO's PPA is recognized in many other countries with treaties with the US. THe USPTO has a list of those countries but the silly Yahoo Answers will not let me put links. Go to the USPTO and you can find it. Also.. If you want to patent something START in the country where you will most likely DEFEND it should you be awarded the claims. The PPA is used by the largest companies on the planet, Apple and the like, to do what you want.. Google Provisional Patent Video Course or look at the link - Dave Korpi
